Mobile media company Player X has been nominated for the second year running at this year’s upcoming Mobile Entertainment awards.
The company is up against companies such as MediaFlo, Rok, Mobix, MIG and U-Turn to win the award for Best Video and TV Service Provider. Last year, the company was narrowly beaten into 2nd place behind MTV to in its bid to win Best Video Producer.
“Naturally, we’re delighted to be recognised for our success in video and TV. The success of our geekTV channel in territories across the globe and the emergence of Zapper TV in North America are testaments to a great team effort,” said Tony Pearce, Player X CEO.
The news follows Player X’s recent launch of the Zapper TV channel on Verizon Wireless. This is the first time a European channel has been published on Verizon’s V Cast channel and Player X will shortly announce a deal with another major US carrier.
Earlier this year, the company was selected as a Finalist for the prestigious 2007 Red Herring Top 100 Awards and geekTV was nominated for the Best Content Award at this year’s prestigious Meffy Awards in Monte Carlo.
