Award-winning mobile media company Player X has lost out to global broadcaster BSkyB as UK Media Company of The Year at last night's Media Magnate Awards.

In a glittering ceremony presented by Davina McCall and attended by Royalty, Player X were the only mobile company nominated along with traditional media behemoths such as BSkyB, Bloomsbury and Chime Communications.

The awards, sponsored by investment company Canaccord Adams, recognise excellence across many sectors and the Player X nomination is an endorsement of the company's increasing influence on the mobile media

"For us to be on a shortlist of only six companies as Company of the Year is a testament to all the team's efforts. While it's a pity we didn't win, losing out to one of the world's biggest broadcasters is some solace," said Tony Pearce, Player X CEO.
